Spotlight on the World Food ProgrammeLast Update on January 31st, 2009, Author: admin

The World Food Programme (WFP) is a United Nations agency that is also the world’s largest humanitarian organization that combats global hunger. By getting food to people during and after emergencies, the WFP fights hunger worldwide to pursue their vision that every person has access at all times to enough food to live a healthy and active life. They not only provide food aid but also capacity building for countries to reduce hunger in their territory. Each year, their food assistance benefits about 100 million people in 80 countries. The WFP believes that “without food, there can be no sustainable peace, no democracy and no development”.
